We really like this place. It is one of the reasons we chose to stay in Kansas. We have 21 acres and it is close enough to town to be acceptable, yet far enough out to match John's desires to not live in town.

The name is derived from the spring fed 1 acre pond on the property. In the winter when the pond first frosts over you can see all the little springs in the lake.

From the pond, go up the stairs John and his friends built (yes, they're that long), and you come up into our Douglas County land. Most of our house is in Shawnee county, but these few acres make great campgrounds.

From there, walk down a pathway to the South East corner of the house. You can see the deck and the back door to the house. To the right of the back door is the rear wing of the house. Believe it or not there is a pathway to the left of the deck between the grill and the flower bed.

If you take that pathway, you'll go by the living room windows and then around to the driveway / garage area. Here is a view from the driveway to the house (look behind the weirdo's in the foreground). Here is a look down the driveway from the house. Turn towards the garage and you'll see the tornado shelter. Keep turning and you'll see up beside the garage at the top of the hill is the machine shed. Here is a better view of the machine shed.

That's it for now. We don't really have pictures of inside or of the garden & pasture. Eventually.

I guess I will give you a treat :). I decided the house needed a nice overkill wiring job. So, I re-wired it (insert Tim Allen grunt here). First, I had my neighbor help (paid), here he is after crawling around under the house for me :). He and I pulled the wires into the wiring closet, the cat was instrumental in getting this done of course ;). When we got done the wires looked like this. I don't have pictures of the finished product yet. On the other end, here is a picture of the living room being wired.
